Understanding Shiva is an insightful book about Lord Shiva, his powers in the creation and working of the universe. The authors have done commendable job in bringing out all the informations about Lord Shiva in a chronological and lucid way that lives no room for any kind of doubt if you are a beginner in understanding Hinduism and the religious books. They have explain the origin and the importance of Shivratri.
One of the best aspects of this book was the way every information was place, it was systematic, the initial chapters focuses on the three states and prominent representations of Shiva. There are nine main chapters which is further segmented into small chapters encompassing all the prime details.
While I gain many insights from all the chapters, there was a specific chapter titled “Other popular forms of worshipping Shiva” it was one of absolute favourite because it consists of different divine forms of Lord Shiva and elucidation of the representation. This section also talks about the twelve traditional Jyotirlingam shrines located in different parts of India.
If you are an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, this book is a treasure trove. Highly recommended it.
